In 2007 Chrome expanded his network within his realm and
took a shot at producing and formed CR203 Records, the chemical formula of
Chromium Oxide, the material used to make Chrome. His first riddim was
alongside Don Corleon one of Jamaica’s leading producers called Chromium which
had songs from a few Jamaica’s finest Beenie Man,
Voicemail, Vybz Kartel, Movado and a
combination between Munga and Don Corleon. He followed up with the Recession
Riddim which was fitting of the status quo of that time with songs by Elephant Man,
Bugle and Vybz Kartel.
The success of Chrome’s riddims led him to continue working
and he changed his pace in mid-2010 with the release of his first Reggae rhythm
called Cardiac Bass, which is the first of his Cardiac Reggae Series. Cardiac
Bass was once more a notch of success under Chrome’s belt as it became a hit on
the international scene with Christopher Martin’s ‘Paper Loving’ claiming the
number 1 spot on charts in Kenya, leading to many sold out shows. Cecile’s
‘When You’re Gone’ and Alaine ‘Up’ are also very popular in the African state.
Jah Cure’s ‘Before I Leave’ and two tracks from Vybz Kartel also helped to make
Cardiac Bass a stellar reggae riddim.
Cardiac Strings was the second installation of Chrome’s
Cardiac Series and following the widely acclaimed success of Cardiac Bass,
Strings did not disappoint. Released in September 2011, the riddim spawned one
of the biggest reggae tracks to date for Chris Martin ‘Cheaters Prayer’ and
Alaine’s ‘Bye Bye Bye’ along with solid tracks from Cecile, Jah Cure, Tarrus
Riley and Voicemail.
